In this study, we tried to deal with the paradigmatic changes which have arisen around the Turkish identity in the historical process. In this sense, it’s observed that the culturel process of Turkish nation, starting with the steppes of Central-Asia gained an original new identity with Islamization. We named this original structure as thesis, as the first phase of its historical paradigm, considering as a follow up of spiritual maturity. From this point of view, it’s possible to evaluate that the process of Westernization or Modernization, starting with 18th centuries, following Tanzimat, reaching the peak with Republic, as an anti-thesis taking a stand against it. It will not be wrong to see the third stage, we live within, coming out in the the context of its scientific, political, sociological and philosophical main charasteristic, as a synthesis of the first two phases. In this final stage, the essence of the identity consists of the local culturel values produced by feelings with the universal civilizational ones coming from rational field. Hence, the Turkish-Islamic identity and the thought of modern West reveal a new structure which is called as Post-Modern Muslim-Turk identity getting together on a logical base. As a consequence of this, the Turkish nation, comprising of two main dimensions of its nature in context with sense and mind, will get free from the identical fragmentation, coming out in the historical process in the axis of East-West. According to this, neither culture or value stystems consisting in soul, inculcation or sympathy nor civilization and values bases on mind, willpower or intelligence as ıt has one-sided been before but a more comprehensive and integrative understanding combining these two fields will come to the fore.
