The aim of this research is to put out the secondary school students’ achievements on the correlation between the expression skill of the meaning with emphasis which is mentioned in a sentence and the success of comprehension of the meaning of a sentence which can change with emphasis.In this research, it was used the method of circumstance study from the qualitative research approaches.Two different sentences in which their meanings can change with different emphasis were given to 40 students for 7th grade in a secondary school.The students were asked for reading the sentences according to their meanings with the correct emphasis and their voices were recorded.The next week , they were listened to the audio recordings of the same sentences which had been read by an expert and at the same time while listening to each sentence which change their meanings with emphasis, they were asked for choosing the option on the test which was preapered in the form of measuring tool .In this study ,sound recording equipment which has a feature of noise cutting was used.With the help of the Praat Sound Analysis Programme ,the voice recordings of the students were analyzed and determined emphasis of the sentence.In the voice recordings which were done by expert and in which their accuracy were tested with the Praat programme ,how many of the meanings which were chosen by the students according to the meaning in which the expert expressed with emphasis were correct or not was determined by analyzing the answers of the questions on the test.The relational evaluations for data which was obtained were done and was found a mid-level positive correlation between the success of comprehension of the meaning of a sentence which can change with emphasis and expression skill of the desired meaning with emphasisStudent’s ability to specify intented meaning with the help of emphasis on sentence increases as their success of determining the meaning, which changes with the emphasis increases. This outcome shows the necessity of giving the students a listening based education to make them acquire the ability of emphasis on sentence. Because the skills are learnt by imitation and developed by practice.
