Elifnames (Alphabet Letters) are the poems that are composed on the base of Ottoman Turkish which is alphabetized from the first letter „Elif‟ to the last letter „Ye‟. In these poems the poets creates their poems by an alphabetic range from the first word of the premier line to the first letter of the last line or from the first lines‟ first word to the last quatrains first lines‟ first word. The same condition is applicable for the elifnames that are based on rhymes. We recognize that divan poets, mystic poets and minstrel poets commonly use the poems such as elifnames. The tradition of writing poems by the alphabetic order is also one of the means to indicate their artistic skills. Especially in the minstrel poetry most of them who know Ottoman Turkish, write in this style. On the other side, the substation of Ottoman Letters by the Latin brings out new literary applications with the letter revolution. According to the new system, the minstrels who learned new alphabet, the poets write elifnames in Latin alphabet instead of Ottoman Turkish. It can be also defined that we can‟t meet usually the poems in elifname style based on Latin Letter. But, it can show us the presence of the poems written in this style. The minstrel poets pursue the current literature. It is also important for showing us the minstrel poetry‟s productive and changeable side. In this review we will focus on the elifnames examples that are written in new alphabet. By this way we can remark the dynamic structure of the tradition that keep pace with the evolution.
