In this article, an emphasis will be laid on the spelling of a few words which are mentioned in the old Turkic inscriptions and regarded as not Turkish. Considering the spelling of these words into consideration, whether the unity of the spelling of foreign words mentioned in the texts with Arabic letters are also a fact for the texts with Kök Turk letters will be discussed. After the analysis on the spelling of foreign words, with regard to the general spelling rules, an emphasis will be given on the spelling problems in old Turkic inscriptions and an opinion will be stated whether these are based on dialectic reasons or based completely on mistakes resulted from the negligence of the writer. ∗ Yrd.
