Opinions of Schoolmaster and Teachers on Drug Addiction – Present Situation and on Advices in Secondary Schools

Some people are pushed to use drug in the society due to various causes. The reason why these causes should be important and paid attention to is because of the destructive and devastating effect thatdrug use has on people and on these people’s environment. Thissituation has become a problem for societies to struggle with. Use ofdrugs is an important problem within Turkish Education System justlike throughout the world.In this research, school principals and guidance counselors whowork in a high school in Elazığ was met and determining the opinionson the matter of drug use of students was tried so to determine thepresent situation regarding drug use in educational establishments. Inthis context, 10 open ended questions were directed to principals andguidance counselors. In the findings obtained with the analysis of thedata it was determined that the reason for the students to start drugs isdue to familial problems. Friend group, environment, media and othereffective factors are also included. In schools mostly marijuana, heroinand ecstasy are used and students can get their hands on drugs fromoutside of school, internet cafes and inside of school. No significantdifference was found between male and female students regarding druguse. Family, education and state policies stand out as prominentsolutions. Toplum içinde bazı kişiler, çeşitli nedenlerden dolayı uyuşturucu kullanmaya itilirler. Bu nedenlerin önemli hale gelmesini ve dikkate alınmasını gerekli kılan husus, uyuşturucu kullanımının kişiler ve kişilerin yakın çevresinde bulunanlar üzerinde bıraktığı yıkıcı ve yok edici etkidir. Bu durum, toplumlar için baş etmek zorunda oldukları bir sorun halini almıştır. Uyuşturucu madde kullanımı bugün tüm dünyada olduğu gibi Türk Eğitim Sistemi içinde de önemli bir sorundur.Bu araştırmada, eğitim kurumlarında uyuşturucu kullanımına ilişkin mevcut durumun tespit edilmesi amacıyla Elazığ ilinde bulunan liselerde görev yapan okul yöneticileri ve rehber öğretmenleriyle görüşülmüş ve öğrencilerinin uyuşturucu kullanımına ilişkin bakış açıları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda yöneticilere ve rehber öğretmenlere 10 açık uçlu soru yöneltilmiştir. Verilerin analizi ile elde edilen bulgularda uyuşturucuya başlama nedeninin daha çok ailevi nedenlerden kaynaklandığı tespit edilmiştir. Arkadaş grubu, çevre, medya, diğer etkili görülen unsurlar içerisindedir. Okullarda en çok esrar, eroin ve ecstacy kullanılmakta ve öğrenciler uyuşturucu maddeyi, okul dışında ara sokak satıcılarından, internet kafelerden ve okul içinden temin edebilmektedir. Uyuşturucu kullanımı konusunda kız ve erkek öğrenciler arasında anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemektedir. Çözüm yolları olarak, aile, eğitim ve devlet politikaları önde gelen unsurlar olarak göze çarpmaktadır
