While Tanzimat (The Reforms of 1846 during the Ottoman Empire)gave birth to modern literature in Turkey, political factors played acrucial role in its development. This article tries to explore the birth rootsof fiction writing in Turkey in the beginning of 19th century and study theeffects of social-political medium in 1950s on literature. Primarily, theWestern effect on political life started with Tanzimat period and thusbecoming prevalent in other social spaces as well as modern literatureand the art of fiction in particular. As is known, although its roots weredeep in Istanbul, the expansion of Turkish literature towards Ankaratogether with the outbreak of Indepedence War accelerated with theestablishment of new Republic right after the victory. The educationalopportunities became widespread throughout the country as the newRepublic adopted an ideology that took the villagers as the focal point.Against this background, with the establishment of “Köy Enstitüleri”(Village Institutes) this trend gained a new impetus and new writersflourished from the bosom of Anatolia. Thus, this enabled scholars todevelop an “emic” at Anatolia. The aim of this article is to study how andin what ways non-literary events like social-political in Turkey haveaffected Turkish literature. Within this framework, the article discussesthe problematic, spatial and thematic changes arose in Turkish literatureand the consequences of these results.   Osmanlı’da siyasal-toplumsal açıdan önemli bir kavşak olanTanzimat hareketi aynı zamanda modern edebiyatın doğuşu açısından dagerçek bir yol ayrımıdır. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye’de modern edebiyatınyaklaşık yüz yıllık serüveni ele alınmakta bu serüvenin kökenleri, etkilerive geleceği siyasal-toplumsal gelişmelerle bağlantılı olarakirdelenmektedir. Bu bağlamda, Türkiye’de roman sanatının doğuşununkökenleri ve 1909’dan 1930’lara uzanan dönemdeki toplumsal siyasalortam üzerinde durulmaktadır. Türk edebiyatında yeni bir canlanma, birdoğuş gereklidir; ne var ki, romanda köye yönelişin ortaya çıkması içinbir “halka doğru” hareketinin toplumsal-siyasal temellerinin oluşması,bunun için de Anadolu’da bir milli hareketin başlaması, bu yönelişingüçlü bir düşünsel-siyasal akım halini aldığı 1920’lere kadar beklemekgerekecektir. Milli Mücadele ile birlikte Ankara’nın öne çıkması, bukentin kurtuluştan sonra başkent olması, kurulan Cumhuriyet’in“köycülük davası” da edebiyatımız üzerinde etkili olmuştur. Ayrıca,“Anadolu’ya” sloganlı “Memleket Edebiyatı”nın, eğitimin belli birkesimin ayrıcalığı olmaktan kurtarılıp geniş yığınlara mal edilmesiylehızlandığı görülüyor. Artık, edebiyatçıların İstanbullu oluşu değişmekte,tüm Anadolu’dan şair ve yazar edebiyat dünyasında belirmektedir.Makale ile amaçlanan, Tanzimat’tan başlayıp 1950’lere kadar toplumsaldeğişme, siyasal gelişme vb. gibi temelde edebiyat dışı etkenlerin Türkedebiyatını ne yönde etkilediğini irdelemektir. Bu bağlamda, Türkedebiyatının, “şehirlisi olduğu” İstanbul’dan, Ankara’ya, daha sonra daen uzak köşelerine kadar tüm Anadolu’ya yaygınlaşmasının nedenlerinive bu yönelişin sonuçlarını sergilemektir
