In our country, after the year 2004, new primary schoolcurriculums were prepared abandoning traditional educationalapproaches. One of the new programs that are used in this context,Turkey inspired by constructivist approach to education ElementaryTurkish Course (6-8 Classes) Training Programme. As the newcurriculum aims to raise students who reconstruct what they read, whohave critical and creative thinking, who can produce solutions to dailyissues, we can say that the reading activities which are used in Turkishlessons in secondary schools have to be in harmony with the newcurriculum's reading objectives.In the research, Turkish teachers' problems with reading lessonsapplied research activities were determined. The main objective of theresearch activities of reading, reading the new program based on theobjectives of the incompatible aspects of the teachers' opinions todetermine what is going on.To be able to reach the research data, the quantitative data whichwas collected by a survey including 140 Turkish teachers about theiropinions on the reading activities in the course books was analyzedaccording to the sub-purposes of the research by SPSS Windows 11.5.Additionally, 15 teachers were interviewed using an interview form andthe results were evaluated with the content analysis method.At the end of research primary school teachers in TurkishTurkish lessons were facing many problems in the implementation ofreading activities. These problems can be listed to be; activities toengage students withdraws, fails to activate students in activities, lackof time allowed for the implementation of activities, activities thatcontribute to the students' critical and creative thinking does notprovide enough power, activities are not suitable enough students toacquire the habit of reading, activities, students' language,communication, learning and comprehension skills are not suitableenough. It can be said that the reading activities in the course books inorder to remove the problems which were determined in this researchwill help new Turkish curriculum reach its goals.
