In this work words those mean ‘pregnant’ used in Turkic dialects and Anatolian local dialects of our day beginning from old Turkic texts, and the meaning properties they contain have been dealt with. Many words meaning pregnant have been used in Turkish icluding the texts belonging to historical Turkic dialects. Most of them are still alive today -though some only live in a limited region-. Also many words not encountered in old periods meet the meaning pregnant. In the work ways of expressions applied in naming pregnants have been evaluated; and reasons of the fact that the words that mean pregnant are a lot in number have been investigated.
