Mir’ât-ı Cünûn of Avni bey, which is not known when written, is an unfinished masnavi including both sociological crit i isms about 19 th century Ottoman society and psychological analysis of some human types chosen from the society. The work is important with regard to comprising such components as literature, sociology and psychology. Poet emphasizes that his work was formed by conversation with mad people, an d taken individuals into consideration based on observation and experie nce. Mehmet Çavuşoğlu is the one who introduced Mir’ât-ı Cünûn to the world of Science. He outlined the work in a symposi um held in 1965, and presented the Masnavi script based on just one copy . This study composes a new comparative text by comparing two copy of the M ir’ât-ı Cünûn that we could have obtained and Çavu şoğlu’s publication. While Çavu şoğlu’s text is composed of 486 couplets, the text we composed is 6 65 couplets.
