Plants and animals have an important place in life. In each society’s language, there are many vocabularies which are about plants and animals depend on life style and habitat. Plant, animal names and words which are related to those names, have a place in vocabulary in Turkish. Depending on Turks’ life style, animal names out number plant names by in vocabulary in Turkish. Hence it is possible to determine animal names and words related to these names as of the first written sources. Since the first written source in vocabulary in Turkish, it is possible to determine plenty of animal names and words related to those names, horse particularly. One of the animal names in Turkish is camel. In this study, only camel and vocabulary which are related to camel have been emphasized. In studies which are about vocabulary in Turkish, the first encyclopaedic dictionary and the most valuable piece of work, Divanu Lugati’t-Turk is one of the basic source for researchers. Accordingly, it has been purposed to see vocabulary 20-22 Ekim 2011 tarihinde Prof. Dr. Mine Mengi adına düzenlenen Türkoloji Sempozyumu’nda sunulan bildirinin yeniden düzenlenmiş şeklidir. * Yrd.
