Sevinç Çokum’s novel “Hilal Görününce” reveals the condition of Crimean Turks during Ottoman-Russian war made between 1853 and 1856. The novel which was written by the Çokum after making an intensive preliminary preparation period depicts wishes, dreams and expectations of Crimean Turks at that time as well as bearing a rich content belonging to Crimean Turks. In this article, considering the novel “Hilal Görününce”, Crimean Turks will be handled and their wishes and expectations will be determined; their approaches towards the concepts of motherland and nation will be determined; and assessments will be made in relation to their social and cultural features.
