Having an important agricultural and population potential due to favourable geographical conditions Akşehir was very near to Konya which was the capital in Anatolian Seljuks and which was the central sanjak of Karaman province in Ottoman period along the important trade routes. Moreover, with its location along the pilgrim way of İstanbul-Mecca, it was an important center in terms of trade and economics. In this study we have some findings about the agricultural structure of Akşehir and subsistence of peasants in the 16. century. We have especially dealt in detail with the changes that occured in Akşehir in the 16. century and the social economic situation of the subjects in face of these changes.
