Balıkesir region is the area that Tahtacı’s lives in a wide geography through Kaz mountains to Taurus mountains. Western Anatolian mountains and plates used as a shelter by Tahtacı Turkmens for a long period of time. These people occupied forestry for living. As a profession “Tahtacılık” (wood work) becomes as a cult or religion at the end. In this paper, we aimed to study the history of “Tahtacı” and their community today.
