Effect of Teaching Lessons Based on Activities wiht First and Second Hand Sources to Students’ Historical Thinking Abilities in Secondary School History Lessons

In the research, development of students‟ historical thinking abilities have been mentioned related to using first and second hand sources with based on activities in history lessons in high schools. Qualitative research method has been used in this study. As qualitative research method historical texts of students‟ works written in their practice process are interpreted with descriptive analysed method. This study‟s application phase has been applied in Prof. Dr. ġevket ReĢit Hatipoğlu High school with 76 (seventy six) students in Yenimahalle, Ankara for 5 (five) weeks (through ten lessons). While using related first and second hand sources with student centered approach, lessons have been running in application group, on the other hand, lessons have run in classical style with lesson books centered. Before the application, a test has been applied without giving the historical document aimed at writing Bu çalıĢma 16-18 Haziran 2010 tarihlerinde Atatürk Üniversitesi‟nin düzenlediği I.
