Written by one of the 16th century poets, Kara Fazli, Gul u Bulbul is a sufistic and an allegorical masnawi which has different reading layers. At first sight, the poet seems to tell a metaphorical love story of Bulbul and Gul, the lover and the beloved. Yet, at the end of the text, he informs the reader about the sufistic conceptions which were represented by the lover and the beloved, and the rest of the components of the masnawi. Concurrently, the seasonal circle and the revival of the spring are narrated coherently with the nature of the allegory and in parallel with the names of the heroes.
