One of the important branches of maritime trade is yachting related to marine tourism activities. Turkey which is located in the Eastern Mediterranean is an important point of the world tourism, has become a frequently traveled destination together with Aegean and Mediterranean coastline within the context of yachting. Yachts and marinas carry significant risks with regards to security of national borders in the scope of illegal activities such as terorism, smuggling. The aim of the study is to determine the security levels of 13 marinas operating in the Marmara, Aegean and Mediterranean regions and to determine whether they have a vulnerability for national security. In this context the concept of marina and security are explained generally, informed in the sense of International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS) that involved essential security units of maritime transportation sector. In the research section of our study, open-ended questions were asked to marina directors by means of a face-to-face interview about the security situation of marinas. Consequently it concluded that ISPS Code and security precautions such as inbound-outbound controls and vessel stowaway search procedures are not implemented and and have been found to be a security vulnerability in terms of a lot of fields. Accordingly at the end of the the study, some suggestions have tried to find out related security issues of marinas.
