It describes the admissions experience, tensions, and challenges presented by the use of standardized testing, as well as alternative admissions paths implemented more recently. The article ends with an overview of the challenges that lie ahead for the most selective higher education institution in California; these may also be relevant to other higher education institutions around the world.
