ResumenEl coyote (Canis latrans) es una especie que en los últimos 30 años se ha expandido en las áreas tropicales de México y Centroamérica. En esta nota se registra por primera vez esta especie en el estado de Campeche, México. Utilizando fototrampeo, de mayo de 2009 a julio de 2012 se obtuvieron 29 registros de coyotes provenientes de 7 sitios localizados en el oeste del estado. El registro de coyotes en Campeche incrementa de 15 a 16 las especies de carnívoros reportadas para el estado.AbstractCoyote (Canis latrans) distribution range has broadly expanded during the last 30 years in tropical areas of Mexico and Central America. This paper provides the first record of coyotes in the state of Campeche, Mexico. Using photo trapping, from May 2009 to July 2012, we obtained 29 records of coyotes from 7 sites located in the western portion of the state. The record of coyotes in Campeche increases from 15 to 16 the number of carnivore species reported for the state
