What role did football play during the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera (1923-1930) in Spain? This is one of the questions that this article attempts to resolve. Its objective is to present the impact of the first visit to Spain on the part of an Argentine club, the Boca Juniors Athletic Club, as reported in the Spanish press in 1925. At the methodological level, a review was done of the general bibliography and of the main Spanish magazines and newspapers, both in terms of sports and general information. It demonstrates, as its general conclusion, the interest that the Boca Juniors’ tour sparked among Spanish and Argentinian fans alike, showing this to be an occasion for asserting both national identity and global relations through football
