Medicinal plants are a rich source of active ingredients and provide a safer and cost effective way to treat skin diseases. This article throws light on the use of medicinal plants in the treatment of skin diseases in different regions of the world. Patents are the richest source of the latest technological information. A review of some patents on herbal products for the treatment of skin diseases is provided that summarizes the recent technical advancements taken place in this area.
