Objective: To study the biopsychological and social profile of chronic renal patients in hemodialysis. Methods: The SF-36 questionnaire was applied to 40 chronic renal patients under usual hemodialysis at the Substitutive Kidney Therapy of Irmandade do Hospital da Santa Casa de Pocos de Caldas for measuring the life quality in eight aspects and social-demographic, clinical and nutritional data were collected. Results were presented through descriptive analysis. Results: The sample consisted of 16 women (40%) and 24 men (60%), being the age average of 49.9 years old and time of treatment average of 36.6 months. For the SF-36 questionnaire, all the aspects were shown to be compromised, especially the physical aspects. The social-demographic profile was homogeneous, consisting of patients attended by SUS, living in Pocos de Caldas, prevailing brown-colored skin, educational level lower than four years and family earnings lower than one minimum wage. Thirty-five subjects (87.5%) did not have labor activity. The main cause of chronic renal insufficiency (CRI) was arterial hypertension in 62.5 % of the subjects. Concerning the nutritional aspects, eutrophic patients were predominant, followed by the overweighed (45%). Conclusion: Data provided important features of the profile of the studied population.
