In the article concept of “Prevention” is presented. Also its importance,\udsolving Lithuanian public mental health problems. Authors presents the\uddivision of prevention, measure instruments and effectiveness indicators\ud(like its durability, adaptation to a particular person or group; social and\udpsychological skills of program manager to create warm and authoritybased\udrelationships, ability to combine various preventive methods and\udto connect knowledge with interpersonal relationships and values).\udThree types of prevention programs are described: universal (for society\udas a whole, without distinction of any groups or individuals based on\udtheir problems); selective (for individuals or groups, with mental and\udbehavioral health problems (risk group); and symptomatic (for persons,\udwith strong mental and behavioral health problems). Answering the\udquestion: “When is a person changing in the prevention programs?”,\udthere are presented importance of interpersonal relationships also\udas transfer of knowledge.\u
