L’impact d’Antoine Berman sur la traductologie en Amérique latine : une enquête

Le présent travail s’inscrit dans la perspective d’un bilan critique de la traductologie bermanienne en Amérique latine. Traducteur de l’espagnol, Berman était profondément imprégné des valeurs culturelles, intellectuelles et humaines véhiculées par l’espagnol d’Amérique latine. Il en ressentait profondément le « mode-d’être-une-langue » qu’il a brillamment fait sentir dans ses traductions. Cette identification sensible de Berman à l’horizon socioculturel latino-américain l’a fait se tourner vers ce monde en maintes occasions et de maintes façons. Quel a été l’impact de la pensée traductologique bermanienne en Amérique latine? Ses conférences, séminaires et écrits ont-ils gagné des disciples, des émules? Comment s’est traduit cet impact et quel avenir l’Amérique latine réserve-t-elle à la traductologie à la lumière de la réflexion bermanienne? Autant de questions auxquelles une enquête menée auprès d’une cinquantaine d'informateurs (enseignants, chercheurs et praticiens de la traduction d'Amérique latine et d'Espagne) tentera de répondre.This study attempts to assess the impact of Berman’s theories in Latin America. As a translator from Spanish, Berman has been deeply influenced by cultural, intellectual and human values conveyed by Latin American Spanish. He had its “way-of-being-a-language” beautifully reexpressed in his translations. Such a sensitive identification with the Latin American sociocultural world led him to be very close, in many instances and in different ways, to this part of the world. What has Berman’s contribution been to translation studies in Latin America? Did he find supporters with his speeches, seminars and writings? What are the consequences of this impact in the way Latin America approaches translation studies in the future? A survey of some fifty faculty members, researchers and translators from Latin America and Spain will attemp to find answers to these questions
