The article in the form of an overview study focuses on one of the interdisciplinary methods of a qualitative scientific method based on the life story, oral history. Person shares his memories of the specific era, process or personality of the past with the interviewer. The study introduces the origin and development nowadays commonly used methods of scientific research in the Czech academic environment and also its establishment in the world. The article focuses on the methodological process and also on one of the questions currently being discussed in the methodology of oral history, insider and its influence on the process of interviewing
