Hintergrund: Chronisch-entzundliche Darmerkrankungen (CED) rucken durch die stetig steigende Inzidenz in den Fokus der Gesellschaft. Die komplexen Krankheitsbilder und Therapieoptionen der CED fuhren zu einem erhohten Bedarf einerseits einer medizinischen Behandlung und andererseits einer pflegerischen Betreuung und Schulung der Betroffenen und deren Angehorigen. International existieren diverse akademische Ausbildungen fur Pflegepersonen, welche sich auf die Pflege von Menschen mit einer CED spezialisieren, sogenannte Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurses. Ziel: Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Beschreibung der Tatigkeiten einer IBD Nurse, sowie potenzielle Auswirkungen einer IBD Nurse aufzuzeigen. Methode: Um den aktuellen Wissensstand der internationalen Literatur zu dieser Thematik darzustellen, wurden nach Entwicklung einer Suchstrategie eine Literaturrecherche in den Datenbanken Cinahl und PubMed, und eine Handsuche in Google Scholar durchgefuhrt. Ergebnisse: Funf Artikel erfullten die Einschlusskriterien und konnten zur Beantwortung der Forschungsfragen herangezogen werden. Die Literaturrecherche zeigt, dass IBD Nurses diverse Tatigkeiten im multidisziplinaren Team ausuben. Das primare Tatigkeitsfeld ist die Beratung der Betroffenen und deren Angehorigen. Die Ergebnisse bestatigen, dass durch den Einsatz einer IBD Nurse krankheitsbezogene Beschwerden schneller erkannt werden, die Zufriedenheit der betroffenen Personen gesteigert wird und die Anzahl der Personen in Remission steigt. Zudem werden durch die Expertise der IBD Nurse Belegstage verringert, Krankenhausaufnahmen und -aufenthalte vermieden und Kosten eingespart. Schlussfolgerung : Weitere Studien insbesondere zu Auswirkungen einer IBD Nurse werden empfohlen. Skills and outcomes of an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Nurse - a literature review Background: Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a spectrum of various disease patterns with a continuously increasing incidence. Due to the complexity of these diseases, both medical and nursing care as well as education for the affected and their relatives is necessary. International academic education programs for nurses who want to specialize in inflammatory bowel diseases, the so-called Inflammatory Bowel Disease nurses, are already available. Aim: The aim of this study is to describe the skills and effects of an IBD nurse from the international literature. Method: To show the current knowledge given in the international literature, literature searches in the databases Cinahl and PubMed and a hand search were performed. Results: Five articles fulfilled the inclusion criteria and have therefore been chosen to answer the research questions. The literature search shows that the IBD nurse assumes various responsibilities within a multidisciplinary team. The main field of activity is to counsel the affected and their relatives. The results indicate that through the employment of an IBD nurse the number of persons in remission and the satisfaction of the affected persons are increasing and the disease-related symptoms are identified more quickly. Moreover, owing to the expertise of the IBD nurse, occupied bed days are reduced and hospital admissions and hospital stays are avoided, therefore enabling considerable savings in health care costs. Conclusion: Due to the lack of literature regarding the health care of people with IBD, further nursing care studies are required to highlight the effects of employing an IBD nurse.
