Recent development of three-dimensional (3D)and four-dimensional ultrasound (4D) providedus with new possibilities to study fetal movementsand behavior. Many studies have beenconducted in order to provide information onspecific movement patterns in normal and highriskfetuses. This was the base for a multicenterstudy on the use of new scoring system for fetalneurobehavior the purpose of which is to recognizefetuses at increased risk for a poor neurologicaloutcome. The purpose of this paper is togive a brief review on the use of 3D and 4D ultrasoundin the assessment of fetal behavior.
