Evaluation of the department of management information systems curriculums from the perspective of information management

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the content of curriculums of the “Management Information Systems (MIS)” departments, whose numbers in Turkish universities are increasing exponentially year by year, and evaluating and discuss, in the light of the findings, how new science fields affect the information management processes. Moreover, the literature is examined and reviewed in order to reveal how the strong connections, differences, and similarities among information-based disciplines are perceived from different perceptive. In addition, the curriculums of some departments in United States (US) universities, which are accepted as the pioneers of MIS departments and have led to widespread of these departments all over the world, are evaluated similarly by using content analysis and compared to those of 43 Turkish universities, when possible, that accept their students by the central university entrance exam. The findings show that MIS science field is quite similar to other information-based/information-oriented fields in terms of their scope and content. It is possible to say that
