Academician behaviours as an implicit element affecting the attitudes of teacher nominees towards their professions

This research is carried out with the aim of determining the implicit academician behaviours affecting the attitudes of teacher nominees in an educational faculty towards their professions and presenting how their behaviours change according to the students’ gender, department and academic success. The sample of the research includes 18 students selected from 3rd grade of Pre-School Education Department, Primary School Teaching Department and Science Education Department of an Educational Faculty. Low-medium and high level of academic success of students have been taken into account in the selection of the students and gender balance between the students have been provided. The data have been collected by focus group interviews and the findings have been presented by making content analysis. In content analysis, academic staff behaviours have been coded with “behaviours affecting the attitudes towards the profession in a positive way”, “behaviours affecting the attitudes towards the profession in a negative way”, addition to these questions they have been coded under the categories of “classroom discipline rules”, “communication and interaction in the classroom”, “time management in the classroom” and “management of classroom teaching activities”. The behaviours of the academicians affecting the students’ attitudes towards their profession have been determined by these data coded according to the codes.
