The present study compares the differential effect of two smoking cessation programs: a nicotine fading program and a multicomponent program called Breaking the Habit. Results obtained at 9 month follow-up shows a 31% and a 30% of quit smoking rate, respectively. Results are discussed on the basis of a similar level of efficacy with respect to the percentage of subjects who maintained smoking abstinence and with regard to the total relapse rate.
