This paper analyses the use of virtual environments for teaching and learning to innovate on education, investigation and management. 8QLYHUVLW\LVEHQHoWLQJIURPWKHXVHRI virtual environments, a general strategy is proposed for the design and development of effective practices, and we are living an important change in the roles and the relation between of professor and student. The School of Business Studies and the School of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Podiatry of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), have made different proposals that show the advantages of the implantation of virtual spaces on higher education to achieve the autonomy and independence of the student on his own learning process.
