This article discusses the findings of a research project whose key aim is to identify the quality of Open Learning Objects in teacher training that is geared towards developing critical thinking and working effectively in a knowledge-based society. This research is part of the State of Tabasco’s improvement plan for school performance in basic education. The research question is the following: “What quality criteria are required for Open Learning Objects (OBO), and how do they foster the development of critical thinking and cognitive skills?” This is a qualitative-based study that is focused on “exploratory design” and is validated by experts in learning objects. The answer is based on the results obtained from the application of online questionnaires.
