Internet y cognición social = Internet and social cognition

Resumen: La naturaleza social del ser humano predice que solo relaciones relativamente debiles pueden mantenerse sin una interaccion cara-a-cara. La revolucion digital y la omnipresencia de la tecnologia nos permiten comunicarnos, entretenernos, jugar, y obtener informacion sin interactuar con otras personas. Varios autores sostienen que el uso de Internet produce cambios en nuestras emociones, mente y comportamiento causando un deficit en nuestra capacidad para interactuar con otras personas (cognicion social) e incluso afectar a nuestra salud mental (Greenfield 2015). En este escrito, hacemos una revision del estado de la cuestion argumentando que existe una psicopatologizacion de la cognicion social en la cultura digital y que Internet, los videojuegos, redes sociales o la realidad virtual no son obstaculos para el bienestar social de las personas. Abstract: The social nature of human beings predicts that only relatively weak relationships can be maintained without face to face interaction. Digital revolution and the pervasive presence of technology enable us to communicate, entertain us, play and get information without interacting with other people. Several authors sustain that Internet use affects our emotions, mind, and behavior causing a deficit in our capacity to interact with other people (social cognition) and even causing disorders in mental health (Greenfield, 2015). In this paper, we review the state of the art arguing that exists a psycho-pathologization of social cognition in the digital culture and that Internet, videogames, social media, or virtual reality are not obstacles to social well-being.
