Abstract: This article discusses the importance of the patronage of religious foundations and social conflictivity generated around it, because it was an instrument of power through which both nobility and clergy modeled social habits and promoted their own symbolic ostentation . In order to do so, we have based on the case study of a Cordovan nobiliary lineage: the Counts of Fernan Nunez, from the late seventeenth century to the late eighteenth.
