Resumen: Las necesidades de los sistemas penitenciarios, se proyectan dentro de las políticas sociales públicas de los gobiernos como uno de los fines más complejos a trabajar. El modelo penitenciario de acción social que se ha ido desarrollando en España a partir principalmente de la última década, ha intentado paliar y transformar las deficiencias y carencias de las personas privadas de libertad. A partir de desarrollos progresivos -con relevantes aportes desde la Educación Social entre otras disciplinas- se han ido generado múltiples respuestas que configuran experiencias efectivas en estos escenarios como los módulos de respeto o programas sociolaborales. Estos avances presentan experiencias y resultados muy interesantes; igualmente para las mujeres reclusas, minoría penitenciaria (aunque representa el mayor porcentaje de la Unión Europea en el caso español) que históricamente han sufrido mayores desigualdades y discriminaciones que los hombres en las prisiones.

Abstract: The needs of the penitentiary systems are projected into the public social policies of the governments as one of the most complex purposes to work. The penitentiary model of social-educational action that has been developed in Spain, mainly since the last decade, has tried to mitigate the deficiencies and lacks of people in prison. From progressive developments with relevant contributions from Social Education among other disciplines of social action- multiple actions which shape effective experiences on these fields, as respect modules or social-labour programs have been developed. Theses advances present very interesting experiences and results, equally for women in prison, a penitentiary minority (although in the Spanish case it represents the highest percentage in the European Union), that historically have suffered greater inequalities and discriminations than men in prison.
