Open AccessEl presente artículo pretende ser una aproximación a la estructura del sistema educativo que se aplica en las prisiones de la España de Franco en la inmediata posguerra. Escogemos la prisión Central de Celanova (Ourense) como ejemplo para ilustrar la explicación de este sistema. La prisión ubicada en Celanova organizará su centro educativo muy pronto y éste anticipará las líneas básicas del sistema educativo que será impuesto, más tarde y por decreto, en la totalidad de las prisiones españolas. Intentamos destacar el importante papel ideológico jugado por la escuela en el interior de las prisiones, donde se convierte en un vehículo para obtener la «redención» del enemigo político. La enseñanza que reciben los prisioneros políticos persigue el propósito de introducir entre ellos la ideología del «Nuevo Estado».
The article is a historical approach to the structure of educational system as applied to Spanish jails under Franco's rule during the aftermath of the Civil War. We choose the Central Jail of Celanova (Ourense) as the illustrative example to explain this system. The jail at Celanova undenvent an early reorganization which anticipated the educational system to be imposed, by an official decree, shortly after in every Spanish jail. We try to underline the ideological purpose played by the schooling in the jail, where it became a vehicle to obtain the «redemption» of the political enemy. The schooling of the political prisioners fulfilled the purpose of spreading the ideology of the «New State» among them.
