La interrupción del suministro de alumbre procedente de las minas de Asia Menor, los principales puntos de extracción en las primeras décadas del Cuatrocientos de esta importante materia industrial, ante el avance otomano, precipita una intensificación de la prospección de nuevos yacimientos en toda Europa. Al fenómeno no fue ajena la Corona de Aragón, en cuyos territorios está constatada la puesta en marcha, en torno a los años 1461-62, de una serie de explotaciones. El presente artículo aporta nueva información sobre algunas de ellas, radicadas en la ribera baja del río Jiloca, en las cercanías de la ciudad de Calatayud, permitiendo documentar con más precisión el arranque de una actividad y unas técnicas poco menos que desconocidas en la región a fines de la Edad Media pero que, posteriormente, arraigarán en las serranías ibéricas, señaladamente en el Bajo Aragón. <em>The interruption of the supply of alum from the mines of Asia Minor, the main source of the mineral in the first decades of the fifteenth century, due to the advance of the Ottomans in that territory, caused an intensive quest for new mineral deposits in all of Europe. This phenomenon was not alien to the Crown of Aragon, where new mineral sites are subject to extraction around the years 1461-62. This article advances new information concerning some of the mines located in the lower basin of the Jiloca river, on the outskirts of the city of Calatayud. Records demonstrate the beginning of activities and technical procedures that were virtually unknown in that area at the end of the Middle Ages, but that later will firmly take root in the Iberian mountain ranges, especially in Lower Aragon.</em>  <br /
