New perforated ground-stone tools from inland Galicia: Some ttiougtits on tile epimegalithic stage In this paper we deal with three new finds of perforated ground-stone implements in NW Iberia: a double adze, a triangular mace-head and a discoid one. While the first tviío were casual finds (fig. 4), the last one was recovered, together with a stone chisel, within a mound destroyed in the course of ploughing (fig. 2). The informations about this site are scarce, though it appeared to lack any kind of stone chamber and had no large dimensions. These characteristics are coincident with those from a number of barrows clustering particularly around the upper part of the Miño valley and often containing mace-heads (fig. 5). In our view they are part of a wider trend leading from the proper megalithic mounds towards smaller, possibly individual barrows. This phenomenon takes place in the very end of the 3rd millenium be or beginnings of the 2nd, when a greater degree of variability in the burial monuments is observed both within and between different áreas in NW Iberia. We suggest also that mounds containing perforated stone weapons could be partially synchronic with the spread of Beakers. The reason for their never occurring together would rest perhaps on the distinctive meanings conferred upon those sets of " Algo semejante parece ocurrir con la cerámica campaniforme y el utillaje metálico vinculado a ésta, pues en el Noroeste aparecen con frecuencia de forma separada en contextos sepulcrales (S. JORGE 1988, pág. 89).
