This article rakes the main discussions and problems that has considered the economy of edu- cation to analyze from the own discipline, and from other empirical works, the possibilities and limitations to give answer to the present problems. The discussion focuses on the economic growth and its relation to education; the social demands due to the raising of the training level; the operation of the job market and the forma- tion at work. Finally, we reflected on the resurgence of economic approaches to education, and the conclu sión at which we arrived, shows of the necessity of an interdisciplinary aproach to answer the questions that historically the economy of education has formulated itself.
