This paper examines the main variables related to the stay of battered women with aggressors. The different emotional responses in the victims are also analyzed according to the longitudinal course of domestic violence. Likewise, the maladapted coping strategies used by the victims to survive in this situation are described. The implications of this study for clinical practice and future research in this field are commented upon.
