In this essay we aimed to show the position of the Serbian economy to the achieved level of competitiveness for 2015 according to the list of the World Economic Forum. The position of the Serbian economy will be presented relative to the countries from its immediate surroundings. We will point to the factors that decisively influenced the changes that led to the current position of the Serbian economy. We will explain how to form an index of global competitiveness on the basis of which the ranking of national economies
