Objective:To investigate the knowledge, practice and beliefs of mothers and daycare teachers about breast feeding. Methods: Descriptive study with a quantitative approach respecting the CNS Resolution 466/12, upon approval seems favorable 1,164,666 and CAAE 45773515.0.0000.5191 in 38 nurseries with 100 participants. Results: Day care provides services to needy mothers, single, with 2 to 5 children and employment. Interview ed mothers of children had the 24 months, mostly did not breast feeding the day care. Only 26% of mother’s breastfed the ir children exclusive lyuntil 6 months and 8% still breastfeeding. Conclusion: Few mothers breastfeed their children, especially in environments of day care centers. Mother sand employe es know that breast milk is good for health of the Child and the day cares are most ly not organized for the practice of breast feeding in their facilities. It is necessary to develop public policies that assist in the management of breastfeeding in kindergartens.
