Influence of Samarium Oxide ions on structural and optical properties of borate glasses

We have successfully synthesized Samarium oxide (Sm2O3) doped borate glasses by conventional rapid melt quench method. The prepared batch was melted at suitable transition temperature and to improve the crystalline phases, glass was kept at 500°C for 7 h. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern identified the amorphous nature of glass and photoluminescence emission properties proved the optical properties of Sm2O3 doped borate glass. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and FTRaman studies suggested that Sm2O3 could modify the properties of glass
