The cuckoo search algorithm (CS) is a simple\udand effective global optimization algorithm. It has been\udapplied to solve a wide range of real-world optimization\udproblem. In this paper, an improved Cuckoo Search\udAlgorithm (ICS) is presented for determining the age and\udrelative contribution of different stellar populations in\udgalaxies. The results indicate that the proposed method\udperforms better than, or at least comparable to state-ofthe-art\udmethod from literature when considering the\udquality of the solutions obtained. The proposed algorithm\udwill be applied to integrated color of galaxy NGC 3384.\udSimulation results further demonstrate the proposed\udmethod is very effective. The study revealed that cuckoo\udsearch can successfully be applied to a wide range of\udstellar population and space optimization problems
