— We focus on a geometric invariant associated to any noncompact Riemannian manifold : the asymptotic curvature ratio introduced by Gromov. We study how it interacts with the topology of the underlying manifold with other geometric constraints such as positive asymptotic volume ratio, nonnegative (Ricci) curvature and finiteness of the fundamental group (at infinity). 1. Rapport asymptotique de courbure 1.1. Premières motivations Commençons par définir l’invariant géométrique qui sera au centre de nos préoccupations : le rapport asymptotique de courbure d’une variété riemannienne complète (M, g) est défini par, A(g) := lim sup rp(x)→+∞ rp(x)|Rm(g)(x)|, pour p ∈M, où rp(·) := dg(p, ·) désigne la fonction distance au point p. Remarquons que cette notion est bien définie puisqu’elle ne dépend pas du point base p ∈ M. De plus, le rapport asymptotique de courbure est invariant par dilatations de la métrique. Cet invariant géométrique a été introduit par Gromov [25]. Gromov et Lott-Shen [31] ont montré le fait suivant assez déconcertant : Mots-clés : géométrie riemannienne, courbure positive, cône asymptotique, effondrement à l’infini, topologie des variétés riemanniennes non compactes.
