This study aimed to identify the atmospheric patterns in the city of Belo Horizonte in the early twentieth century through the mapping of units of "natural" climates. The term "natural climate" was used to characterize the average behavior of the main meteorological parameters in a simplified urban reality. Data from the first official weather station, installed in the capital between 1910 and 1920, was obtained. The ratio of 0,65C/100m was used to calculate the air temperature (mean, maximum and minimum) and to calculate the temperature of the saturated air. Based on those informations the value of depression for each psychrometric range altimeter was computated, wich permitted to estimate the relative humidity value for the respective altimetric levels. The climate space delimitation of the units on the surface was determined by statistical homogeneity of each weather parameter. The results indicate the existence of two major units of local climates, subdivided into three mesoclimates and eight local climates. The first unit was defined as Tropical de Altitude da Depressão de Belo Horizonte and the second as Tropical de Altitude das Serras do Quadrilátero Ferrífero.
