Bu çalışma öğretmen adaylarının Türk halk ve geleneksel Türk sanat müziklerine\udilişkin algılarını metaforlar aracılığıyla ortaya çıkarmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma grubu\ud2014-2015 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz yarıyılında Niğde Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesi’nin Fen\udBilgisi (%20,37), Matematik (%6,25), Müzik (%15,05), Resim-İş (%8,33), Sınıf (%13,43),\udSosyal (%14,35) ve Türkçe Eğitimi (%22,22) Ana Bilim Dallarında öğrenim görmekte olan\ud432 öğrencidir. Çalışmanın verileri katılımcıların geleneksel müzik türlerine ilişkin sahip\udoldukları metaforlarını ortaya koymak amacıyla “Türk halk müziği… gibidir. Çünkü …” ve\ud“Geleneksel Türk sanat müziği… gibidir. Çünkü …” ifadelerini tamamlamaları yoluyla elde\udedilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda katılımcıların Türk halk müziğine ilişkin 67 adet ve\udgeleneksel Türk sanat müziğine ilişkin 78 adet metafor ürettikleri tespit edilmiştir. Bu\udmetaforlar ortak özellikleri bakımından incelenerek Türk halk müziğine ilişkin metaforlar\ud12, geleneksel Türk sanat müziğine ilişkin metaforlar da 13 farklı kavramsal kategori altında\udtoplanmıştır. Çalışmada Türk halk müziğine ait kavramsal kategorilerden kültürel bir unsur,\udsürekliliği sağlayan bir unsur, tanımlayıcı bir unsur, temel bir unsur, aidiyet hissi oluşturan\udbir unsur ile temsil edici bir unsur kategorilerinin en fazla katılımcının bulunduğu kategoriler\udolduğu belirlenmiştir. Geleneksel Türk sanat müziğine ait kavramsal kategorilerden de\udhuzur, mutluluk ve sağlık verici bir unsur, geçmişi anımsatan bir unsur, değerli bir unsur,\udsanatsal özellikleri tanımlayan bir unsur ile olgun insana hitap eden bir unsur kategorilerinin\uden fazla katılımcının bulunduğu kategoriler olduğu tespit edilmiştir.The purpose of this study is to examine teacher candidates’ understanding of Turkish\udfolk and traditional Turkish art music through metaphors. The sample group of the study is\udthe 432 students who are studying in the Science (%20,37), Mathematics (%6,25), Music\ud(%15,05), Painting-Work (%8,33), Classroom (%13,43), Social (%14,35) and Turkish\udEducation (%22,22) in Nigde University Education Faculty in the autumn semester of 2014\ud- 2015 school year. Collecting data of the study were asked to complete the prompt “Turkish\udfolk music is like…because…” and “Traditional Turkish art music is like… because…”.\udAccording to the results overall, teacher candidates produced 67 metaphors of Turkish folk\udmusic and 78 metaphors about traditional Turkish art music. Based on these metaphors about\udTurkish folk music 12 conceptual categories and about traditional Turkish art music 13\udconceptual categories were identified. In the study, it is determined that cultural elements, an\udelement that provides continuity, a descriptive component, a fundamental part, an element creates a sense of belonging and representative feature category of Turkish folk music\udbelonging to the conceptual categories are most participants found. It is also found that\udpeace, happiness and health-giving element, an element reminiscent of the past, a precious\udcommodity, an element that define the artistic features and an element appeal to mature\udpeople of Traditional Turkish Arts in the conceptual categories are most participants found
