In her collages, Düsseldorf artist Barbara Herbert critically examines topics such ascorporeality, sensuality, classical and contemporary body images. She traces developments from the Renaissance to the present image of femininity which is strongly influenced by the media. Her work deals with issues of concealment and alienation, and advocates the critical reflection of visual images.
