Dominant height correlated with age has been much used as a measure of site. Dominant height correlated with density as well as with age is better in the case of even-aged stands. For such stands, average diameter—given the same treatment—yields similar results; diameter tallies, as taken on line-plot surveys, provide data for site determination.
