Özet Abstract Sekreterliğin bir meslek olarak ortaya çıkmasında; herhangi bir yönetim kademesinde konuşulanların ve alınan kararların, sır olarak saklaması ve kayıt altına alınması gerekliliği etkili olmuştur. Değişen dünyada ve iş dünyasının yeni oluşumlarında sekreterlere duyulan ihtiyaçla birlikte; sekreterlik mesleğinin kapsamı ve niteliği değişmiş ve gelişmiştir. Bir mesleğe ait bilgi, beceri, yetenek ve kazanımların, programlı bir eğitim sürecinden geçilerek elde edilmiş olmasının; mesleğe ve meslek mensubuna, yetkinlik ve değer kazandırması beklenir. Meslek eğitimi kapsamında günümüzde üniversitelerin meslek yüksekokullarındaki Büro Yönetimi ve Yönetici Asistanlığı (BYA) Programlarında sekreterlik mesleği eğitimi verilmektedir. Bu araştırmada, Büro Yönetimi ve Yönetici Asistanlığı Programında okuyan öğrencilerin sekreterlik mesleğine yönelik algılamaları nitel bir araştırma ile belirlenmiştir. BYA Programı öğrencileriyle yapılan nitel çalışmanın bulguları çerçevesinde; eğitimin, meslek algısı üzerinde olumlu etkisi olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Sekreterin, BYA öğrencileri tarafından, kamuda ve özel sektörde farklılık olmakla birlikte yönetsel ve örgütsel bilgi ve becerilere sahip bir yönetici yardımcısı ve yöneticiye danışmanlık yapan önemli bir meslek mensubu olarak algılandığı tespit edilmiştir. In the emergence of the secretariat as a profession, the necessities of keeping the decisions made in any management level as secret and recording them have been effective. In the changing world and in the new formations of business world, the scope and quality of secretariat profession have been changed and developed with need for secretaries. It is expected that attaining the knowledge, skills, competencies, and acquisitions belonging to a profession by programmed learning brings profession and also members of it in perfection and value. At the present time secretariats have been training in the Department of Office Management and Executive Assistantship (BYA) at the Junior Technical Colleges within universities in the scope of vocational education. In this study the perceptions of the students attending office management and executive assistantship program related to secretariat profession are investigated using qualitative research method. The results of the study indicated that training has positive effect on perceptions related to profession. Also it is understood that, as well as there are differences in public and private sector, students perceive secretariat as an administrative assistant who has managerial and organizational knowledge and skills and an important professional adviser to managers.
