The article considers mathematical models of the processes of diffusion, dissolution of contaminant mixtures in the aquatic environment and formation of water quality, as well as the model of the distribution of contaminant sources throughout the water basin. The construction of mathematical models that can evaluate the ability of natural waters to decompose contaminant components, i.e., the ability of bodies of water to assimilate them, is studied.
